Northern Trust Open Final Round

1815 - Good evening and welcome to coverage of the final round of the 2014 Northern Trust Open, this tournament almost always provides a dramatic Sunday including a six-man play-off back in 2001. With a completely unheralded leader with very little experience this could be a wild finish in Los Angeles.

1819 - The chasing pack are eating up the first few holes at Riviera and Charl Schwartzel and Dustin Johnson are hunting down the leader William McGirt. Jimmy Walker is also on the move with a birdie at the first to move to within 3.

1821 - Jordan Spieth has also birdied the 1st and joins Walker and Schwartzel at -9.

1822 - Lee Westwood has made a slow start, but at -6 he is only 4 behind second place with 14 holes to play as he looks for his first win in 20 months.

1824 - Bubba Watson finds the par five first in two with two outrageous, unusual shots. An eagle would push him into a share of second place.

1830 - Jordan Spieth strikes the flag with his second at the 2nd hole and should move to -10, just as Jason Allred did at the 1st. The chasing pack are moving in on McGirt.

1835 - Spieth misses his birdie chance at the 2nd but right now there are 2 shots covering the 19 players behind McGirt.

1842 - Bae Sang-Moon of Korea makes birdies at 1 and 3 to move into a massive tie for second before Charlie Beljan birdies the first to move to -11; William McGirt birdies the first to regain his two shot advantage.

1848 - A birdie from Spieth at the 3rd move him to -10 and we have a stacked and loaded chasing pack ready to pounce should McGirt stumble; Cameron Tringale moves to -11 with a birdie on the 3rd.

1912 - McGirt bogeys the second and the chasing pack are moving in, 8 players within two shots of the lead.

1915 - Bubba Watson birdies the fourth and he is just one shot back of the leader. Now there are nine players within two shots of the lead. Watson will be desperate to atone for his disastrous finish at the Phoenix Open two weeks ago.

1920 - McGirt is short and left of the long par three fourth hole, struggling to save par.

1923 - Schwartzel birdies 5 and 6 to move into second place, one back of McGirt.

1928 - McGirt plays a superb pitch to 4 feet below the hole and should remain in the lead.

1944 - Bubba Watson holes a bunker shot at the par three sixth to tie the lead, Brian Harman birdies the sixth to make it three in a row and tie the lead at -12.

1946 - We have a three-way tie for the lead and incredibly we have 8 players covered by 1 stroke and 14 within 3.

1957 - Charl Schwartzel birdies the 8th and makes it four players tied for the lead at -12.

2002 - 11 players within 2 of the lead.

2009 - This tournament is wide open, anyone of 10 players could walk away the champion but it could quite easily be a play-off.

2015 - Bubba takes the lead.

2016 - A 16 foot putt gives the 2012 Masters champion a one stroke lead through 8 holes at -13.

2027 - Dustin Johnson plays a magical shot from under a tree at the 10th to set up a birdie chance to move into a tie for second, one back of Watson.

2055 - Dustin Johnson birdies the 11th to reach -12 and the leading three are now Bubba (-13), Schwartzel and Johnson (-12), the cream is rising to the top at Riviera.

2100 - Bubba misses a golden opportunity to extend his lead at 10, still leads by 1 from Schwartzel and Johnson with 8 to play.

2115 - Bubba birdies the par five 11th to extend his lead to two.

2125 - Johnson's tee shot at the par three 14th comes up some 10 yards short in the sand; Schwartzel follows him and the chasing pack are struggling to keep pace with Bubba Watson.

2127 - Watson plays a nice pitch from a bad position next to a tree on the par four 12th, he needs a nice putt to save par though. We are in for another incredible finish on the PGA Tour.

2130 - OUTRAGEOUS! Schwartzel holes his bunker shot on the 14th, follows his bogey at 13 with a birdie; Watson pars the 12th and remains 2 ahead of the South African.

2133 - Unbelievable putt from Dustin Johnson sees him go to 15 at -12 tied with Schwartzel and Brian Harman, all relying on Watson finishing like he did at TPC Scottsdale.

2142 - An appalling shot from Watson from the fairway at the 13th, a hideous golf swing says Sky's Mark Roe, are the wheels going to fall off once more?

2146 - Watson plays a nice pitch but will have at least 5 feet to save par.

2147 - Johnson follows a pummelled drive with a delightful iron shot to the 15th, birdie chance.

2148 - Another bunker shot from Schwartzel at 15, has a 20 footer for par coming up.

2149 - Bubba makes par and remains 2 ahead; Schwartzel's putt lips out at 15 and he is now 3 back.

2152 - Dustin bins his putt at the 15th and he is one behind Bubba; memories of the 2010 PGA at Whistling Straits here, will there be a play-off? Will there be a rules infringement?

2153 - Bubba finds the heart of the par three fourteenth.

2154 - Dustin Johnson's tee shot on the par three 16th comes up short in the rough, a thick lie for the big hitter.

2205 - Great up and down from Johnson at 16 and he heads to the par five 17th with a chance to tie Bubba with a birdie or leapfrog him with an eagle.

2206 - Another clutch putt for par from Bubba at 14 and he remains 1 ahead with 4 to play. Is he on the verge of his first win since that epic Masters win in 2012?

2213 - Dustin Johnson pummels his drive up the 17th, in the left rough but an astonishing 331 yards down there with a chance of hitting the green in two.

2215 - Johnson hooks his second shot and hits the hospitality units, in the rough.

2216 - Watson finds the fringe of the 15th green from the fairway bunker.

2219 - Very poor pitch from Johnson at 17 and he has over 50 feet for birdie.

2224 - Yet another par for Bubba, if he pars in, he wins.

2227 - Johnson pars the 17th and needs a birdie at 18 to post -14 in the clubhouse.

2228 - Watson finds the 16th green about 25 feet from the hole.

2234 - Bubba narrowly misses his birdie try at 16, Dustin Johnson has 148 yards for his second on 18.

2236 - Johnson's second comes up short but on the green, he will have over 30 feet for birdie.

2237 - Watson safely up the 17th hole with a 326 yard drive which carried 316 yards in the air!!

2243 - Johnson's putt slides by on the low side and he posts -13 in the clubhouse, relying on Watson repeating his meltdown at Phoenix.

2246 - Bubba finds the sand with his second from 262 yards at 17, up and down for birdie will surely seal the win.

2250 - Bubba's bunker shot flies much further than he had hoped, leaving himself 25 feet downhill for birdie.

2257 - Par for Watson and he heads to the 72nd hole with a one stroke lead.

2300 - Watson finds the fairway with a controlled drive, he has not made a bogey all weekend and unless he miss-hits his second to the last the title is his.

2307 - And that closes the deal! A superb approach leaves the 2012 Masters champion with a ten foot putt for birdie below the hole.

2314 - BOOM! Bubba buries the birdie at the 72nd hole and the winless drought is over for the 2012 Masters champion. A remarkable performance, bogey free in the last 36 holes, two rounds of 64 and a fifth career victory. Emotional scenes at Riviera.

From me it is goodnight and I will be back next weekend and the following two weekends with the WGC's at Dove Mountain and Doral and in between the Honda Classic.

Waste Management Phoenix Open Final Round

1846 - Good evening and welcome to coverage of the final round of the 2014 Waste Management Phoenix Open at TPC Scottsdale. It is Super Bowl Sunday and the record crowd for the Phoenix Open is expected to be smashed today.

1849 - 189,000+ attended yesterday taking the weekly total above 508,000 and just 38,000 need to attend today to make this edition of the Phoenix Open the most attended golf event of all-time. Bubba Watson is currently 1 stroke clear of Kevin Stadler through the first four holes, Watson has made birdies at 3 and 4 to maintain his advantage at the top of the leaderboard.

1923 - Pars at 5 and 6 for Bubba and he still holds a 1 stroke advantage over Kevin Stadler.

2006 - Another pair of pars at 7 and 8 for Bubba, still one clear and nobody really making a charge from the pack with Watson and Stadler four and three clear of the field respectively.

2008 - Watson bunkered with his second shot at the 9th and Stadler hits his approach close to the hole, we could be about to see a change in the leadership of the WM Phoenix Open.

2013 - Bubba pushes his putt for par at 9 and he falls to -16, Stadler has a chance to take the outright lead.

2014 - He holes and Kevin Stadler leads the Phoenix Open by 1 at -17 with 9 holes to play.

2021 - Japan's Hideki Matsuyama birdies the 10th to get to -14 and within 3 of the lead.

2024 - Stadler responds to Watson by putting his second shot on 10 to 13 feet and set up a birdie chance.

2029 - After a 350 yard drive Watson hits a poor pitch and leaves himself 25 feet for birdie, which comes up short and he remains one back, Stadler has a chance to extend his lead.

2030 - Stadler's putt narrowly misses and he remains 1 ahead with 8 to play.

2035 - Stadler hits a wild tee shot at 11 and is unlucky, the ball lodges into a cactus and he will certainly have to take a penalty drop.

2041 - Stadler takes his unplayable lie but meanwhile Bubba Watson pushes his approach and it hangs on the side of a hill near to the water, he is fortunate to stay dry but faces a tricky up and down to stay 1 back.

2047 - Stadler makes a terrible double-bogey and this tournament is wide open, Bubba Watson holds at 1 stroke lead at -16 with Matsuyama two back.

2048 - The Japanese 21-year-old misses an opportunity for birdie at the par three 12th.

2100 - Both Watson and Stadler struggling to save par at the par three 12th.

2104 - Both players save par and remain at -16 and -15 respectively.

2115 - Stadler and Watson fail to reach the par five 13th in two but birdies would extend their advantage over the rest who are creeping closer.

2122 - Poor pars from Watson and Stadler at 13 and there is no momentum in the final group at all.

2123 - With Matsuyama playing ahead of the final trio he could post a number to put the pressure on the 2012 Masters champion.

2127 - Matsuyama pulls his putt at the 14th and fails to close to within 1 of the lead, The next four holes though present fantastic birdie chances.

2131 - Stadler sets up a great chance for birdie to tie the lead on 14.

2146 - The contenders are on the par five 15th.

2147 - Bubba Watson drives into the water and this tournament is wide open for Matsuyama and Stadler, a playoff could be on the cards. Maybe even Hunter Mahan has a chance now, -14 and hits one close at 16.

2149 - Stadler finds the fairway, Matsuyama is on the edge of the fairway and has 231 yards to the hole.

2152 - Mahan birdies the 16th and now there are four contenders for the title.

2154 - Matsuyama narrowly misses his birdie putt and walks to the 16th tee at -15.

2205 - Matsuyama's chip finishes 8 feet away from the hole at 16.

2225 - Mahan has 132 yards to the hole at 18; flies long and has a downhill chip, the pitch mark is inches from the hole but it gets a huge bounce.
